Why Concrete Scanning Should Come Before Any Core Drilling

Why Concrete Scanning Should Come Before Any Core Drilling

Every slab and wall has something hidden inside it: rebar, electrical conduits, plumbing lines, sometimes post-tension cables under serious tension. Drilling blind into any of these can mean a damaged structure, a cut utility line, or a genuinely dangerous failure if a post-tension cable is struck.

A concrete scan, done before any cutting or coring begins, maps exactly what's inside the section you're about to work on. It takes a small amount of extra time upfront and removes almost all of the risk from the job that follows.

For any structural opening — a new doorway, an HVAC duct, a plumbing line through a slab — scanning first isn't an optional extra. It's the difference between a clean, predictable job and an expensive surprise.
